"Laundry Accreditation - How and Why"

Teresa D. Lake, RN BSN,
Infection Preventionist, Tulane University Hospital
Teresa is an Infection Preventionist at Tulane University Hospital and Tulane-Lakeside Hospital and Clinics. Tulane University Hospital is a 356- Bed Tier 1 Hospital affiliated with the Tulane Medical School and Tulane School of Public Health. Tulane Lakeside is primarily a Women's Hospital with a Level III Neonatal ICU and is noted for birthing over 100,000 babies. Tulane is served by Westport Linen Services, Baton Rouge, LA, accredited since 2007.
Chuck Rossmiller, CEO, Healthcare Laundry Systems
Wheeling, Illinois
Chuck has been in the healthcare laundry business since 1991. He learned the business from the ground up as a founding partner with Superior Health Linens in Wisconsin. Chuck joined Crothall and HLS Chicago in 2006 and subsequently lead HLS to become the only accredited laundry in Illinois. He also worked with 10 Crothall laundries nationwide to achieve accreditation in 2008. Chuck will talk about the benefits of accreditation to the healthcare laundry.
Richard Phelon, Vice President, Operations, Gulf Coast Laundry Services, Biloxi, MS (HLAC Inspector)
Richard has been in the commercial laundry industry over 25 years. His varied background includes designing, building, engineering, and managing laundries across the country. In his current position, he has been involved in rebuilding Gulf Coast Laundry Services in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Richard will provide inspection tips and answer questions about the inspection process.
Kathy Tinker
Executive Director, Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council
Kathy is Executive Director for HLAC and works closely on a daily basis with laundries who are accredited and those preparing. She has been with HLAC for 2-1/2 years and has been integral in building and strengthening HLAC accreditation. Kathy will give an overview of the sucess of the past three years and an update on current HLAC initiatives.
